Kratos and Atreus had a huge fight that was the final of many disastrous ones between them, after which Atreus disappeared for a whole year.
His father searched and tore the land, not resting until he knew where his son was. At the end of the first winter since his son's disappearance, he got news from his son. Atreus is still alive and asks his father to stop looking for him.
Now, Kratos lives in wonder at whatever he had done to make his son finally run away.
