The winking face of a semicolon and a bracket stared up at him, composed of unforgiving pixels. She wouldn’t, would she? No. No. She couldn’t. She wouldn’t.
She wouldn’t.

Summary
Jaskier is no stranger to the dark places some men’s minds go when presented with a vulnerable target and an opportunity, but some of the things this man had growled about what he would do to Jaskier once he got his hands on him were downright chilling.
With threats like that, the bastard was likely a seasoned predator. Not seasoned enough to spot Jaskier’s silver boot knife, though, so there he lies, body quickly cooling in the middle of the ruined camp

Summary
At this worst possible moment, a breathless, nervous giggle burst from him, but the line about at least buying him dinner first died on his lips as the witcher snarled and Jaskier felt a teeny, unusual twinge of genuine fear.
"Get in the way one more time-" Geralt ground out each syllable in turn, pinning him to the bark with his glare as much as his fist "-and I will leave you at the next inn for good."

Desperate not to be left behind, Jaskier keeps a dangerous secret.

Summary
Jaskier has seen death at the witcher's side. He has seen it coming, has seen it happen, and has witnessed the aftermath. He accepts the unavoidable nature of it, and the clarity it brings to life. He accepts the emotion it brings out in him, and channels it into the words of a song.
Never before has death left him empty, speechless, and without words.

"I can't promise you that I'll survive this," Geralt says.
Jaskier closes his eyes, but he nods. "I know. I'm not asking... I know you'll do anything to save her. I would too."
Don't say that. Don't make me pay for my child's life with yours.
It would be the most selfish thing in the world to say, the most hypocritical, and yet Geralt wants to anyway. Wants to be selfish in his love, because it is more worth protecting than anything else he's ever had.
"But," he says instead, "you were right before, and I'll swear it. I swear to you I would never leave you of my own choice. I will be with you as long as I am able, and as long as you'll have me."
(They escape the rusalka and the swamp, but their fears follow them. Geralt and Jaskier turn to each other in the aftermath.)

Summary
"You should leave me," Jaskier mumbles. It takes a second for Geralt to parse out the words, and when he does he feels ice chasing the potion through his veins.
"Stop fucking saying that," Geralt says, and maybe he is angry at Jaskier - not for the injury, never that, but for the idea that Geralt would consider leaving him behind. For thinking even for a second that Jaskier lying abandoned on a battlefield to die is a price Geralt could ever pay.
(In the aftermath of their flight from the Redanian camp in episode 4, Geralt reflects on what he has come dangerously close to losing, and truly chooses what he wants to become.) -

Summary
When a sorcerer’s duel goes wrong, an entire village — and everyone unlucky enough to visit it — is cursed to speak nothing but the truth.
For Jaskier, it’s a dream come true. For Geralt, it’s a waking nightmare.
Unable to lie, dodge, or deflect, the witcher finds himself blurting out everything he’s spent years keeping quiet: opinions, confessions, and far too many compliments about a certain bard’s smile. Jaskier, naturally, is thrilled — and determined to make the most of it.
But as the curse digs deeper, laughter gives way to honesty neither of them were ready for. Geralt learns that silence was never strength, and Jaskier learns that love doesn’t need embellishment to be real.
And when Yennefer finally breaks the spell, the curse may fade — but the truth, once spoken, refuses to be forgotten.

Geralt flinches. “I had no choice,” he replies,.
“No choice, Geralt? No choice?” Renfri hisses. “I gave you a choice! And you chose to do nothing.”
Her accusations claw into his skin like a leshen’s thorny branches, and for a moment he sees her in his arms, dying, life draining from her in red rivulets.
“This time,” she continues, her breast heaving, “this time, you will choose, Witcher. I will make you choose!”

Summary
“Freak.”
Geralt doesn’t flinch.
It’s nothing he hasn't heard before, usually followed by a derisive laugh. The stranger might not have meant for him to hear the word, muttered as it is while Geralt's back is turned.
Even when people have heard about Witcher Syndrome and know what to expect from it, they seem to forget about the more acute senses. So, he pretends that the insult was just an unconscious aside that the man behind him meant to keep to himself, and tries to continue his workout.
———
Witcher Syndrome is a disorder that causes genetic mutations to occur to those who develop it. While some symptoms could almost be considered advantageous, others are clearly detrimental to those affected. As with any disability, there are those with prejudices against those that are “other” or “different”.
Geralt has spent most of his life learning to protect himself from those who won’t understand that his differences don’t make him a freak. But, it will take someone with quite a lot of zest for life and self-love, to show Geralt how to be okay with himself, and to remind him that he is still only human.
Someone like Jaskier.

Summary
Where witchers are death, and Jaskier is a bard with a flare for the dramatic who keeps saying he wants to “just die” in any given situation.
To Jaskier, this is just a figure of speech. To Geralt, it is very definitely flirting.
When he decides to finally court the bard, it doesn't quite go as expected, and he finds out just why it is so easy for Jaskier to flirt with death.---000---
Geralt tilts his head to listen, the corner of his mouth twitching upward. The bard has been flirting with him for weeks now, exclaiming he could just die, all over Oxenfurt. At first, Geralt thought the man was being dramatic and didn’t know what he was doing, but no one is that theatrical.
“Little shit at it again?” Lambert grouses. “Just fucking court him already, pretty boy. Or I might just do it for you.”

The thing is, Witchers aren’t supposed to be affectionate. Geralt, in his own particular way, undoubtedly is however. Unfortunately, the Witcher is truly inept when it comes to handling affection and processing emotion. All of this is to say that Jaskier could have predicted this. “This” being Geralt standing helplessly as he holds a cat currently purring in his arms.

Summary
Fringilla decides the best way to make a tortured Bard spill where Geralt of Rivia would take his Child of Surprise is to dive into his head and create illusions. When two bastards stumble into his cell and break him out he understandably believes that they are a figment of his imagination. He keeps his cards as close to his chest as a talkative Bard possibly could as they drag him to what they assure him is a safe place. After all, why would Julian know all that Jaskier does about Kaer Morhan?
Meeting Lambert at Rosie's Tavern at the base of the Blue Mountains he lets half of the cards tumble in the presence of the Wolf Witcher. They grow closer as the four of them trudge up the mountain and meet with the other Wolves in the keep, where he is a trusted member until three weary travelers arrive one morning and cause his cards to go flying.

“If we are to use you as bait to lure our possessed Witcher here to Kaer Morhen, do you understand what that entails?”
Jaskier nods, but he remains quiet.
A slight tremor works its way into his right hand, and Yennefer smirks at its appearance.
The sorceress scoffs faintly, and she approaches him. There is something in her violet eyes, like a spark that proceeds the wildfire it causes as she comes close, her voice growing low and sharp.
“He will hunt you,” Yennefer whispers, as though she is reciting some sort of spell, bewitching as she is sardonic, “You cannot hide from him. You cannot outrun him. You cannot overpower him.”
Jaskier swallows, but he does not waiver. Not even as Yennefer begins to circle him.
Despite the tears in her dress and the dirt that clings to her form, she remains as entrancing as ever. It’s as though she’s a fever dream Jaskier can only spot from the corners of his eyes.
Her words come to Jaskier like a mirage, a silhouette muddled in fog. The only solid sensation coming from her being the race her words bring to his heart.
“You will be at the Witcher’s mercy.”
That should scare Jaskier.
But it doesn't.

Lambert gave up on bringing his father to justice a long time ago. But now that he knows someone else is at risk, he is willing to resort to desperate measures. The kind you can’t talk about without being called insane.
Magic.
If it works, the summoned Witchers will make his father pay for everything he’s done. If it doesn’t…well, Lambert will get over feeling like a fucking idiot, and come up with a different plan. He figures he has nothing left to lose, so he might as well try.
He could never have imagined how that choice will change his life forever.

Geralt isn't a fucking stalker.
He's not!
It isn't Geralt's fault that the livestreamer he's been watching online for four years(and maybe has a small celebrity-crush on) approached him in a bar!
JaskierTheBard, online musician and video-game streamer, might not know who Geralt is IRL, but he's clearly interested, and is it really so wrong if Geralt doesn't let on how much he already knows about the other man?~~~
A not-nearly-as-dark-as-it-might-sound tale about parasocial relationships, and the inherent problems therein.
Angst, smut, lies of omission, and a whole lot of references that probably won't make much sense if you don't know how Twitch and livestreaming work.Series
