But there were still times when it was easy to forget that, specifically when it came to Omegaian shifter traditions. Traditions that went back to when they lived without human interaction, back when laws of ownership and property could include the person an Alpha shared their bed with. Times like that bore the Promitta tradition.
If he was lucky: Bakugou would win this tournament with no injury, they would fly home, and Kirishima would never have to listen to any shifter doubt his choice of mate ever again.

In the movies, people break their glasses for less than this, and he imagines how it would feel to tighten his grip, to feel the thin stem shatter between his fingertips. To make a scene, have everyone turn toward him as the music suddenly scratches off, and he stands there with his empty, bleeding hand, shards of his turmoil sitting pretty at his feet.
Shouta can’t know.

For some reason suddenly embarrassed, Shinsou shrugged his shoulders. He knew it wasn’t very heroic of him to do it, but he couldn’t find any other way to get Eraserhead’s attention, and he needed it if he wanted to become a hero himself. It was impossible for him to be accepted into any proper hero school due to his quirk, which he was told plenty of times already, but surely the hero like Eraserhead would know some ways to teach him and make something out of him despite that, right?

"What's going on? Nightmare?" Shouta asks and he sounds sufficiently surprised, because he should be.
Hizashi doesn't get nightmares. He can't remember even a single nightmare he's ever had and he never wakes up like this, not ever.
"Yeah," he still admits, because it had been a nightmare, even though the pictures are getting hazier with every heartbeat.
Still, Hizashi is terrified, a lingering panic gripping at his heart and he untangles himself from the blanket.
"What are you doing?" Shouta asks, clearly way more awake now than just a few seconds ago and he's squinting at him in the darkness.
"I—have to see the kiddo," Hizashi says, not really knowing why but he has to make sure that Hitoshi is here with them, safe and sound and fast asleep and before Shouta can say anything to that, Hizashi is out of the room.
