    Summary

If Arthur could go back in time and tell his young orphaned self that he was going to be living in New York as a prominent artist in his mid-30s, well, he would’ve called it a miracle that he even got to live that long. His life had changed gravely since getting adopted at 14 by his parents in ways he never thought imaginable. From fighting his way to get fed at foster homes to living in a quaint town like Strawberry, it was night and day. There, his family nurtured his skills and that’s when Arthur honed in on his artistic talents. Although he was proud of his accomplishments, he couldn’t say for sure his fathers were. That was always a sore spot for him.

After a recent health scare from his father, Arthur returns to his hometown of Strawberry to become his caretaker. Upon arriving, he finds himself in an unexpected love triangle.

    Summary

“C’mon.” Tilly grabbed his too-warm hand and pulled him to unsteady feet. They staggered to the tent flap. Lightning lit the world again. There it was, fully visible, spinning closer. The same awe she felt was mirrored in John’s wide grey-brown fever-bright eyes.

“Does… it look different? From the first time you saw it?” he asked, voice rough.

    “Huh?”

“Hosea said, if a tornado doesn’t look like it’s moved at all, it’s coming right at you.”

    “I… I ain’t sure… don’t think it’s moved.”

They waited, silent, while lightning struck three more times. It stayed in the same place each time, maybe a little bigger the last time.

    “Shit.”

AWESOME FIC. It’s got the drama and the narrative and the characterization all done so well. 💕

Charles has never intended to end up in a gang. There's a danger involved when creatures like him spend too long with a group. The wolf was lonely, though. At the end of the day, maybe Charles was too.

    Summary

Inside Matthews & Sons, Charles had to take a moment to orient himself. To the right, shelves of tools and the curled forms of tractor and lawnmower belts. To the left, household cleaning supplies and small necessities like pencils, thumbtacks, and cup hooks. Just next to the store’s center aisle was the register. It was situated atop a massive U-shaped counter with a glass display case full of dusty old pocket knives and knickknacks. Bird houses and weather vanes were hanging from the ceiling beams behind the counter. Some of them appeared to be handmade. The shelf nearest the register was filled with canned goods that had near-identical printed brown labels from some place called ‘Susan’s Kitchen’. A soft thumping noise drew Charles’s gaze back down, to where a dark gray dog with black spotting was lying on a buffalo-plaid printed bed. He had his brown eyes trained on Charles and his tail was smacking a steady rhythm against the floor.

    Summary

If he was being honest with himself, which he usually tried to be, than he was perhaps treating this feller with a bit more kindness than usual because he was attractive. Charles wasn't stupid enough to act on it. It was just as he'd thought earlier — they were strangers, they knew nothing of each other, and the world was a dangerous place. But he also wasn't one to turn away from a nice view just because it was tempting. Especially when said view was only temporary. It was best to enjoy these things while he still could. He could handle the temptation just fine, even if this feller was handsome and good to his horses and had a charming drawl that twanged against Charles' heartstrings.

A retelling of the events of RDR2 from Charles Smith's point-of-view. Heavy on the soft cowboys and introspection. Currently in Horseshoe Overlook.
