Summary
“What do you think is wrong with my brother?” I asked Sheila when June and I had brunch with Sheila and Mouse before we all headed home. “I mean, you’re studying to be a psychologist, right? So you must have some theories.”
Sheila sipped her coffee. “My diagnosis: siblings are fucking annoying.”
“That’s not a diagnosis.”
“It’s not? I bet there’s a DSM code for it if I look hard enough.”

Summary
Gretchen starts picking her cuticles — the skin around her fingernails too — the summer between fifth grade and sixth, when they’re straddling the cusp between young and innocent children and harsh, hormonal preteens. Regina tells her to stop, that it chips the acrylic and makes her nails ugly, but she just can’t — especially not around Regina.
Regina makes her nervous — makes Gretchen’s skin prickle and her stomach turn and her hands clammy — more nervous than another child has any right to, but it doesn’t stop the way her hands shake, fingers habitually pulling and picking at the skin around her nails — a pretty pink acrylic that Regina chose.

Summary
“Anterograde amnesia is the most common type of post-traumatic amnesia, but it seems like I’m experiencing dissociative amnesia, with not remembering who I am or anything else. An amnesia that affects 1% of the male population.” He states and then stares at the woman next to him in shock. “I don’t know how I remembered that, but I don't even know who I am.” He says bluntly.
