Summary
Christmas markets were one of Ravi’s all time favourite places to volunteer. He doesn’t even particularly care about Christmas if he is being honest—his family didn’t celebrate it growing up and most of the festivities he has been roped into participating have felt slightly performative at best—but there is something about Christmas markets, the small ones in particular, those with local vendors and actually small scale production, the ones that usually take place in a warehouse or a high school gym, that draws him more than he would like to admit.
Ravi loves the atmosphere and the people and the food, that has been true since the beginning, but for the past year and a half Ravi’s had a second, much more well-kept, reason for volunteering: May Grant.

Athena’s eyebrows instantly raise to epic proportions of skepticism. Her face tilts down, so she’s almost looking up at May.
Bobby’s facial movements are less extreme than her mother’s, because Athena has always been one to tell you exactly what she’s thinking even without words, but May can see his reaction, too. His lips purse, and he makes a small hum sound.
“Is that so?” Athena says.
