There’s something about this fic, this canon continuance. I never thought I’d be interested in any exploration of a canon that hurt like hell, one that I watched in theatres and realized, “oh my god, they were so scared of even the possibility of Steve and Bucky looking like lovers that they threw the whole friendship out with the bath water. What happened to ‘Til the end of the line’???” Why interact with a story that feels like betrayal whenever I think of it?
Well, this one helps you through it. And you get a new perspective on who these characters are and what they needed, and that maybe they really weren’t ready yet. Maybe those boys couldn’t be what the other needed until one learned how to cool the raging forest fire of his heart (and the other learned how to love himself enough to both protect himself from the flames and to…be the fireweed that grows right after forest fires on the west coast? idk, this metaphor got away from me).
Either way, this is important to save, future me. It made you cry. And that’s ok.Now go eat dinner, ok? You had a good lunch, but you need to eat more than once!

Being sent to the Rito in the dead of winter is a punishment. Link is ostensibly relieving the longtime Hylian military attaché, so this could be construed a promotion—but for the timing.
Another birthday has come and gone, and still he has not presented. And even though everyone expects him to be appointed the Princess’s knight, one thing is for sure—the King will never select anyone but an alpha. And he certainly won’t trust his only child with someone who hasn’t even presented yet. Maybe it would be different if Link had the sword that seals the darkness, but he doesn’t.

Summary
A hundred years have passed since the Calamity and not only has the dark beast Ganon finally been sealed, but the four Champions of old were rebuilt by the very Divine Beasts they piloted, given the chance to start a new life here in the peaceful future world.
Decommissioned from their duties, the Beasts now lie dormant in their domains, and Hyrule's Champions have begun to adjust to life anew. Even Revali has found a place for himself, dispite a few bumps in the road along the way.
But suddenly storms rise and plagues fall, Link drops from the sky with a missing arm, the Princess is behaving strangely, and Hyrule Castle starts to float in the sky...

Summary
They have broken fate into something better: the Calamity is sealed, the Champions live, Hyrule will rebuild. Yet the death of the king and much of the Hylian court unsettles the balance of power, and while Zelda recovers from the Calamity, the army moves to seize control.
Worse, the Calamity is not the only piece of history lodged in the bedrock of Hyrule. Deep under the ground, other histories await. Some start to seep up.
Link is not yet rid of fate – but nor is he alone in facing it.

Zelda’s face was blinding. Her eyes were bright, lips stretched into the biggest grin, arms spread wide as if she was announcing the main act on stage, and Link could have sworn there was a faint ta-da playing in the background. She clearly thought this was the best thing he’d ever heard in his entire life.
It was the worst. Thing he’d ever heard in his entire life, that was.
Link is sent on a year-long journey across Hyrule with his two best friends. ‘Friends’ he may have kissed on one occasion or another.

Awake once again, the four Champions of old have a second chance at life and must re-adjust to this future world with their decendants.
Well - all except for one Champion, who doesn't have a decentant. Or even anyone left alive that knew him.Teba is happy to take in his revived ancient idol as one of his own, but sharing a living space with a hundred year old Champion with an ego the size of his divine beast and who might have some issues he's not willing to share can be a lot sometimes and they don't always see eye to eye.
Revali thinks he should return to leading the new generation of Rito warriors. Teba thinks this actual child should never have been leading warriors or fighting a war in the first place.
Tulin is just excited to have the infamous Rito Champion in his house.

He despised this damn stuffy tunic. He heaves what will probably be his last sigh for the day. Having to fall back into his old post after being able to freely express himself in the wild is going to be a test of his skills. He didn’t have much practice with decorum. Especially the protocols he is sure Zelda will be expecting. He had ensured that the leaders and chiefs of the nation understood him, remaining quiet yet cordial. Mostly defaulting to writing or Zora hand speak. At this point very few citizens of Hyrule knew of his voice, seldom used most days.
Story begins just after BOTW and carries onto after TOTK.

Sidon approached Link, and all Link could focus on was the new collar the man was sporting. It was significantly larger than the one he was accustomed to and more ornate. It was a symbol of his engagement. His blue eyes drifted up away from Sidon's neck to his face. The shock melted from it and Sidon's arms abruptly shot up into the air.
"It's good to see you, my friend!"
No matter how long they'd been together, Sidon had continued to refer to him as "my friend". He had admittedly begun using "friend" and "love" interchangeably, but the term had never previously left Link feeling anything other than cherished.
When Link didn't say anything in response, Sidon's expression shifted again, concern washing across his face. "Link, is something wrong? Are you alright? What happened?"
