Vox pursed his lips. “I’m guessing if you weren’t interested, you would’ve ended this conversation five minutes ago.”
“Maybe. Or maybe I just like watchin’ people who think they’re smarter than me squirm.”
Rather than throw a hissy fit like he expected, a slow, shark-like grin came to Vox’s face. “I can respect that.”
“That don’t sound like an apology.”
“I’m not going to apologize for trying to use my expertise to my advantage.”
Sure, he said it with his whole chest, but Husk was good at picking up on all the shit people didn’t say. The guy had a better poker face than most, but despite his TV bits, he had pheromones and tells like everyone else.

Geralt gets hurt. Jaskier is forced to look in his notebook to find out how he can help him - something he promised himself he wouldn't do. What he finds in there - dozens of sketches of his own face - makes him wonder how Geralt really feels about him.

Geralt is what Jaskier cheerfully describes as "forever years old" when he discovers that okay, maybe he is just the littlest bit affected by… actually he’s not sure what one would call this. He’s not even sure if it’s specifically what was said or just the act of being spoken to like a person in a vulnerable moment. Either way, it’s more than a little unexpected, but that’s not actually the problem. After all, everyone finds themselves unraveled by something a little unorthodox now and again, and in the grand scheme of things, this isn’t really all that weird.
No. The problem is that he learns it at exactly the same time Jaskier does, and it would be embarrassing enough if the bard were just some accidental bystander. But no, Geralt couldn’t get that lucky either. It’s very definitely in response to Jaskier and that is nothing short of mortifying. Whatever longing Geralt might privately harbor, Jaskier has never given any indication that it might be a mutual feeling, and so their companionship is very definitely not Like That.

“Killed your dragon,” the figure rasps, and if his silhouette in the doorway wasn’t enough to give him away, Jaskier would recognize that rough voice anywhere.

I don’t deserve your help, he did not say. Because they all knew, deep down, that Donatello provided a few useful gizmos, but it was outweighed by his constant mistakes and misadventures. All his brothers knew it, he didn’t have to say so.

Donnie offers back a pathetic grin. “I’m fine.” The words are quick, seamless. Mikey smiles something bright at him, the answer giving no one anything to think about, nothing to consider. Mikey is busy, busy like Donnie is, and he can’t bring himself to throw another thing onto the youngest brother.
He feels his shell pounding. Flesh ticking like clockwork. There’s no pain, not yet, just brass bright growing stains in his flawless techwear. No one notices.
Good. He’s got a lot of work to do.

"EAT SCIENCE!”
There it is, the whirl in his gut that shots through his chest like static electricity, shoving out the neutral and replacing it with a buzz that feels so right. His neutral mood is comfortable and normal, but this is- dare he say it- exhilarating.
Pride joins the buzz as his weapons zoom at Shredder in a flurry of glorious explosions, not one of the missing their mark.
The brilliance of the buzz vanishes when Shredder tackles each one of them, ruthlessly tearing them to pieces before his eyes. His babies are nothing more than metal and wires, dead before they had a chance to truly live. A stunned confusion takes over as he watches the armored claws slash through the drill like it was nothing, destroying the masterpiece that he'd spent months working tirelessly on.
-wait. No, this is wrong- this is wrong-
Shredder turns his attention to him and it occurs to Donnie that now there's nothing keeping the raging beast from doing the exact same thing to him.
