Summary
In the aftermath of the trial of seven, Baelor Targaryen yet lives, and the realm lingers in uneasy silence as the days pass without sign of the prince stirring. Ashford Castle has become little more than an open grave, vultures circling in the form of whispering lords while grief clings to its halls.
In the shadow of those days, Dunk finds no rest. His body remains battered and bloodied, his thoughts circling endlessly around guilt and a rage that has settled on one man alone.
Peace will not come to him, least of all when Aerion Targaryen steps into his chamber one night, bruised and furious, a knife in his hand and very much alive.
Carrying with him something the trial had only awakened.

Summary
“When will I marry the prince?” Cersei asked, proudly straightening her shoulders. She had no doubt about the witch’s answer.
“You should have asked different questions,” Maggy the Frog cackled, her shrill laughter shaking the tent. “Never. You will marry a lord. But will it be you?”
That night, not only did Melara Hetherspoon die, but Cersei Lannister as well. And her eyes opened to someone entirely else.

Summary
A tear slips down his dirty temple, slides into his ear.
“I yield,” he whispers and the pain relents, if only for a moment. The sharpness of a fist is gone, the throbbing of a bleeding lip stays. Now that he remembers the words, he can’t stop saying them. “I yield, I yield–“
The weight is gone, his helmet tugged off. There are hands on his face, frantic voices above him. He can’t see anything.

Summary
In the aftermath of Baelor's death, the Targaryen family splinters. All Maekar wants is to hold the remnants of his family close, but even he knows that Aerion cannot stay here, not with Baelor's ghost still wandering the halls.
Dunk has had enough of princes for a lifetime, but Baelor's memory will not let him turn away from the wreckage before him. When Maekar begs him to take Aegon on as his squire, he accepts, and when Maekar begs him to look after Aerion, Dunk cannot turn him away. He is determined to fulfill his duty as Baelor's man, and to do it well, Aerion be damned.
Aerion's life crumbles down around his shoulders in the span of a single afternoon. The Maesters say his leg may never fully heal, his own father cannot look him in the eye, and his family wishes he had died in his uncle's stead. When he finds himself exiled to Lys with only the brother who hates him and the knight who maimed him for company, he is certain he's being sent off to die.
Fortunately, the gods have other plans.

Summary
Beneath King’s Landing, wildfire awaits.
“Drink,” the voice whispers.
When Aerion does, the prince burns away.
The city trembles as something ancient rises in his place, and only one man dares stand before its fire.
“Easy, my prince,” Duncan says. “It’s me.”
Or: that 1% improbable chance Aerion was right all along, and the rest of us were very, very wrong. Yes, the twink is actually a dragon...
