Summary
Shane is finally honest with himself and brave enough to tell Ilya how he feels in Tampa. Then he gets a call from Rose that rewrites everything he thought was possible for him and Ilya.
--“I get that Rose, I really do, but at this point I’m just going to worry about you and all the things it could be and drive myself crazy. Can you just say it, please? I know that’s probably not fair to ask, but I'm asking.”
Rose let out a dry chuckle. “I should have known you would get me to spit it out. You’re alone, right? Sitting down?” her voice sounded almost dead.
“Um, yeah, hold on.” Shane at some point had gotten up and started pacing. He sat back down on the hotel bed. He heard Rose take a deep breath, and he held himself perfectly still.
“Shane, well… fuck, there’s really no way around just saying it, is there? Okay. Fuck."
Shane didn't move. Didn't breathe.
"I’m pregnant.”

“No, it’s not true. Since before that” Shane felt his hands shake from the strength it took from him not to strangle Ilya.
“Not helpful” He said, shaking his head side to side. God he wanted to crawl into a dark hole in the floor and never leave.
“Before?” Yuna’s voice rang in his ears.
“Yes, summer before” Ilya was looking at him and saying it as if Shane didn’t remember, as if wanting it to be stated on record that they were absolutely together since the summer of 2010.
“So you’ve been in love since your rookie season?”
