As if Eddie could read his mind, and most times it feels like he can, he says quietly behind Buck, “We're gonna be okay, Buck. I promise.”
“Is that something you can promise?” Buck asks in a shaky whisper.
Eddie's hand finds his and he links their fingers as best as he can, “You can have my back any day.”
Buck feels the memory hit him like it was yesterday. The implicit trust that bloomed between them that day, the way they could've blown up at any moment but he wasn't scared for even a second, because he was with Eddie. He didn't know then, that the person he risked his life with in an ambulance would be the one person he would rather have his back. He knows now, with complete clarity and the kind of reassurance that you only get from years of knowing someone.
“And you can have mine.”

It started about Bobby's death, but it quickly spiraled. And Buck said some... a lot. Buck said a lot. Eddie thinks he'll regret that night for the rest of his life. Which, from the looks of it, won't be very long.

All right before something goes horribly wrong.
Many things happen in quick succession.
Firstly, a series of loud car horns can be heard from below.
Second, a large crack forms itself on the surface of the bridge.
Third, chaos follows.
The ground itself shakes beneath Buck's boots, splits itself apart, and falls.
