Rozanov cocked his head. “You speak Russian? Or just the curse words?”
“Yes, I speak Russian,” he snapped, defensive and angry. He knew that it had been a mistake to even try to be friendly with Rozanov. “Why? Do I not look Russian to you?” He scoffed.
“No, not really,” Rozanov said. Some of his teammates laughed, although they mostly looked surprised that Shane was speaking to them at all. Rozanov didn’t laugh, though. “Are you Russian?”
“Go fuck yourself.”

Despite an inauspicious start, when Russia’s Ilya Rozanov learns that Canada’s Shane Hollander is fluent in Russian at their first World Junior Championships tournament, it changes everything and sets them on a different course. Instead of being branded as rivals from the very beginning, Ilya and Shane start off as friends.
And, after all, a little friendly rivalry never hurt anyone, did it?

Shane Hollander is just trying to survive—NYU biochemistry, hockey practice, and the graveyard shift at a Manhattan 7-Eleven. He's too tired to notice that his new regular customer is clearly Russian mafia, or that Ilya's interest in him goes beyond terrible coffee.
When Ilya gives him a $10k scarf and gloves, Shane sells them for rent money. Any normal person would be terrified. Ilya is fascinated.

Hockey is a rough sport. Everyone knows that. You go down, you get back up. That’s the game. When Ilya Rozanov goes down on the ice, the Boston Bears are already moving to defend their captain. No one expects Shane Hollander, captain of the Montreal Voyageurs, to be the one who throws the first punch.
Or: the Boston Bears figure out Ilya and Shane’s relationship first—and decide that instead of letting their captain move to fucking Ottawa, they’ll just kidnap his boyfriend instead. Shane Hollander would make a better Bear anyway.

Set in the world of Back and Forth from New York, post-Vegas awards on Scott Hunter Night —
After the night has started to die down and most of the players had returned to their kitschy hotel, Scott, Shane, Carter, Luke, and Ilya decide on one last drunken/tipsy toast to bookend the season. As they go to leave, a fan around Luke’s age approaches them and nervously gushes that his best friend (and roommate) is the world’s biggest Admirals fan and wants to know if he can get their autographs for him.
The Admirals do him one better, they all cram into some poor guy’s Uber XL and wake up his roommate at 3AM.

Based VERY loosely on that one time in 2022 that the Minnesota Wild fan got woken up by 3 players over Christmas Break
I came across the video again recently and it was such a funny example of boys being boys. I'd like to think that our silly little family of Admirals would think it was a similarly great idea
