Summary
Max is the head chef and one of the instructive chefs of a cooking class. He's a little strict with his teaching, and some of the apprentices might argue that he's close to bullying them whenever he gives them advice. They are all subjected to Mad Max. Well, not everyone. There's one exception called Charles Leclerc and everyone knows why Max never yells at him, or criticizes him, or bullies him like he does with the others. Okay, everyone but Charles knows why.

Annabella Baggins was no ordinary hobbit, well she wasn’t even a hobbit to begin with. No, hers was an older lineage that walked (or rather flew) the lands of Arda. According to her book anyway, the book that Belladonna Took and Bungo Baggins found with a small child covered in a ragged blanket that greeted them on the soft grass just beside their garden full of ruby red tomatoes.
Years later, Anna found herself sitting on her favorite bench overlooking the rolling hills of Bag End when a certain wizard introduces himself with a curious proposition of adventure and equal amounts of danger. Hesitation danced inside her head, but still there was no denying the accompanying rush of excitement as the word ‘adventure’ fluttered like a sweet song to her ear. ‘Maybe it wasn’t such a bad idea to hear what this talk of adventure is about,’ She thought as she stared at the smiling face of the wizard in gray.

Bilbo has not caught something since he was a lad and accidentally caught the flower that Bertie Proudfoot was tossing to see if anyone was interested in her. It had taken a lot of practice and restraint but he was quite proud of the fact that he no longer flinched when someone threw something at him. For even that sort of reaction meant something to the hobbit tossing their heart. And while he’d always been careful to never throw anything that someone might be able to catch, he couldn’t have prepared himself for their quest.

Hollyhocking is a common hobbitish disease that crops up when a hobbit feels a sudden, deep, overwhelming affection for another. Its symptoms are in the flowers that erupt from the afflicted's lungs, and its cure is found in the fulfillment of the relationship, the removal of the flowers, or a separation from the object of one's affection.
As far as history goes, no Baggins has ever experienced a spontaneous, deep, overwhelming, unexpected attraction to anyone. As far as Bilbo Baggins is concerned, none ever will.

He and Charles are friends, kind of, and certainly closer now that they’ve ever been before, but he’s never really witnessed Charles having a PR-related meltdown before. They’re not that close.
Oh, well. A first time for everything, he supposes.
“Great!” Charles says cheerily, then unlocks his phone and shoves it in Max’s face. “Do you also know that we’re ranked second on Archive of Our Own?”

This is not a pretty scene.
There is no happy ending here.
Rain falls from the sky. Teardrops fall from Charles’ eyes and land on the dirt beneath him. Trees line the distance, their dark silhouettes stretching out endlessly, like silent sentinels watching over the aftermath.
Charles looks down. His hands are stained with mud, trying to find his one and only. The rain batters down on him, hard. The ground is littered with the remnants of their struggle–broken weapons, tattered clothing, and the still bodies of those who had fallen. The rain mingles with the blood, washing away the evidence but not the pain.
His breath comes in ragged gasps, each one a reminder of the weight of his lost love. He kneels beside the lifeless form of his lover and best friend, the memories of their time together flooding his mind. Promises made, dreams shared—all shattered in the blink of an eye.
Max is gone.
