“About your betrothal?” her father asked. He closed the tome.“I shall not let it stand, Baela. Worry not.”
She had prepared herself for this. Her father might have given up his argument in the moment, but he would not have capitulated entirely that quickly. She shook her head. “Would you undo it for my sake? Or Rhaenyra’s? Or your own?”
He looked surprised for a moment, but he mastered his expression quickly and sat back, folding his arms across his chest. Her father did this, at times. What had he said? “Let people speak, Baela, and they will tell you everything you need to know without you saying a word.” He might soon regret having taught her so well, she thought. She folded her own arms, and looked at him, raising a brow.
He barked a laugh. “Very well.” He leaned forward. “Do you wish to marry the Hightower whelp?”
“I wish to be a queen,” she said, lifting her head.

Ekko slowly crouched down, then sat on the ground, needing a moment to process what they had just witnessed. He glanced around at the blank space they were now in, noting the expressions of everyone: grief, shock, and sorrow etched into their faces in varying degrees.
If this was only the beginning and it was already emotionally exhausting, then what came next would surely be a long, intense ride.

John Dory’s reunion with his brothers was completely unexpected. After years of grieving and healing and coping with the loss of his family, the last thing he expected on his yearly solo camping trip was to get a ransom note about one of them.
Now, after saving Floyd from certain death and gathering the rest of their brothers, John finally has the chance to make things right. Starting with apologizing to each of them.
Then things get a little complicated.

When Hickory had finally gotten home from his latest bounty and told him about how he’d met Pop Trolls while under cover, John hadn’t really believed him at first. Then CJ and Dolly told him about how they’d been at Barb’s opening tour show and they’d seen them too. After Hickory explained everything to him again, he’d broken down a bit at the idea that at least some of his people had survived and this whole time, he had no idea.
But after all of that, John had still been hesitant to hope that his brothers were alive, not wanting to get hurt again if it turned out they’d still died, but then he got the letter about Floyd’s capture and knew he had to at least check. And when John got to Mount Rageous and found him in that diamond prison, he’d been so happy and so angry. Happy to see his brother was alive and he was real, but furious that those two demon spawn were hurting him. He knew he couldn’t just leave him there and while he was still reeling from the fact that ‘holy shit his family isn’t dead’, he set out to find the rest of their brothers anyway to help Floyd.
Now it’s been about two weeks since Floyd’s rescue from the demon twins and it’s been… weird to say the least. John Dory and his brothers have been in Pop Village for that time, all of them wanting to help Floyd during his recovery and catch up after so many years of being apart.
Sort of. John definitely wanted to try to make amends. The rest of them, not so much.
