Summary
He should have seen it coming, really. Should have been prepared.
Not that he thinks it means anything to have a pretty warm good-smelling annoying mean boy sitting in his lap causing reactions- but the fact there is a reaction in the first place is enough cause for panic.
Because there definitely is a reaction.
Or: Connor sits in Kevin's lap during movie night, what happens next will surprise you.

Summary
A shadow made of light, the starry night sky taking shape. It’s both luminescent and reflective, like the opposite of a black hole (at least what he imagines a black hole to look like; he’s only heard the Narrator describe it once). The photo negative of a person, but one that isn’t quite human.
Or: Due to a glitch in the Parable, the Narrator's true form becomes visible unbeknownst to him. Stanley is more than a little fascinated.

Summary
He opens his mouth and is just going to ask, and then he’ll know, and he can put this eternal doubt behind him. Instead what comes out, to his greatest horror, is “What’s wrong with me?”
Or: Kevin doesn't think he knows how to human correctly.

“I really, really don’t want to talk about it. Not everyone gets given a bird they’re comfortable with.”
Something flashes in Kevin’s eyes. Like he understands far too much all at once. “Ooooooh,” he says, “is it a gay thing?"
Or: Connor is twelve when he finds out his bird is a peacock. Showy, flashy, colorful. Which is the complete opposite of what a good straight Mormon boy should strive to be.

Summary
Connor props his chin on his hand and slow-blinks up at him.
“Okay then, Mr. I’m-so-smart. Then you tell me: if all gay people go to hell, why aren’t you down there with us?”
When Kevin went down to earth to earn his wings, he thought it'd be an easy job: perform some miracles, show how much of a Good Guy he is, go back to heaven and live a carefree life.
Instead he gets Connor, who makes him question everything he stands for (and who has him wrapped around his finger from day one).

Summary
“Let’s see… dates.” The Narrator does a quick mental scan on the world wide web, making sure he doesn’t forget anything when conveying information to his pupil. “A date. An appointment to meet at a specific time, and more specifically, a social engagement between two persons, often of a romantic character.”
‘Are you seriously giving me the dictionary definition you are so weird-’
“Common types of dates,” the Narrator barrels on, “involve having dinner at a restaurant, or watching a movie. A so-called ‘dinner date’ is a setting that lends itself especially well to getting to know your partner through conversation, whereas the more intimate setting of a movie theater is better for… er, for snuggling.”
Stanley smirks and wiggles his eyebrows. Starts thinking some very appreciative thoughts at the concept of snuggling.
Or: Stanley wants to go on a date, and the Narrator continuously questions his taste in men.

Summary
“I want to be good,” he mumbles, because he does, wants to be good wants to please and serve and make his boyfriend feel so amazing he forgets his own name, “I just don’t…” He closes his eyes and focuses on the hand stroking his hair, the press of Connor against his back, “I just don’t want to feel… like you think I’m not good enough.”
“Oh, sweetheart.”
Or: Connor wants to try something new. He forgets to inform Kevin of this.
Kevin is happy to oblige, until he isn't.
Connor more than makes up for it. -

Summary
When Kevin Price started university, there were three things he was absolutely certain about:
1. He'd get his degree in Economics and get a well-paying job in Sales, so he could buy a nice big house and settle down.
2. After university he'd find himself a wife to go live in said house and start a family with.
3. Kevin knows his place in the world. After getting roped into a Shakespeare play by his best friend and two overly enthusiastic theater kids, there are three things that Kevin is not certain about in the slightest:
1. Is becoming a Salesman just because his dad always told him he's good at telling people what they want to hear really the only way forward?
2. Why is he so sure he'd suddenly become interested in girls when he never was before?
3. Kevin knows jack-shit about fuck-all. He's a boy playing a girl playing a boy, who is starting to have feelings for another boy, and who might be a little more comfortable with the whole "gender is performance" thing than he ever thought possible. -

Summary
“I was thinking, well, it’s not unusual for people to bring their partners along; in fact, most people do, and it’s been a while since I- not that I haven’t been seeing anyone! But the last time was, er. Not what I wanted to talk about. No, what I wanted to ask, if perhaps, you might be persuaded to, er, if you have time that is, perhaps to join me-”
AKA the Narrator invites Stanley back to his childhood home in England to celebrate Christmas. Chaos ensues.

They’re all but standing shoulder-to-shoulder as they contemplate the bed, no room to run.
“It’s, um…” Connor smacks his lips. “It’s maybe just a little…”
“It’s a shoebox,” Kevin deadpans.
Or: Kevin's just trying to make it home, and return to a semblance of normalcy. Too bad the universe gives him Connor McKinley instead.

When the game turns on, we will be met
When the bed breaks, our Stanley will fall
And down will come Stanley, Parable and all!‘Why are you singing about the bed breaking? That’s not very reassuring.’
“I was simply adapting the lyrics of the song to become more prevalent to your situation, Stanley. It is to be expected that my efforts would go unappreciated. Hmpf.”

Summary
“Whose idea was it to hang up mistletoe?” Kevin asks, squinting up at the small bundle of greenery hanging in the doorway.
“Technically it’s aloe vera, not mistletoe.”
“Okay,” Kevin agrees, “whose idea was it to hang up aloe vera and have it function as mistletoe?”
They're celebrating Christmas, and there's aloe vera strung up all around the mission hut. Kevin thinks it's the perfect opportunity to try and steal a kiss from a certain district leader. The other elders think it's the perfect opportunity to try and steal a kiss from Kevin.

Connor is smiling. “Kevin Price, I have decided we are going to be good friends.”
Kevin smiles back. “Oh if you decided then I guess it’s just gonna have to be that way.”
Connor laughs, before swirling his chair around and returning to his journal.
Yes, good friends. And nothing more than that.
Connor's new roommate is exactly his type, and a fellow ex-Mormon to boot! Too bad he's straight. Connor has promised himself never to fall for another straight guy.

Summary
“Masturbation is a sin, Elder Price!”
“I’m just saying, maybe it’s not as bad as we’ve always been led to believe.”
Connor has no idea what kind of conversation he just walked in on. And he’s pretty sure he doesn’t want to know either.
Connor decides to try his hand (heh) at this whole "masturbation thing" after waking up with unrelenting morning wood. Things get a little more awkward when Elder Price walks in on him. But sometimes, all you need is a helping hand (or a helpful mouth).
