It’s less than 24 hours post-mission from successfully stopping the virus from spreading at Alcatraz, and the team decided to go out for a drink since it’s the least they can do.
Which is fine, except for the fact that Leon has kept that he’s an omega for so long that it starts forcing its way through him. So with Piers help, he escapes to a hotel where he has his first heat (he’s been taking suppressants since he was 19, he’s never had a heat)
Chris comes to save him, and somehow from there they end up mated by the end of the night.
Or TLDR: Leon escapes bar in heat, Chris comes after him in worry, fucking ensues, they become mates.

Yet, as he stands in the doorway of what is supposed to be his home, he can’t help but wish maybe, just maybe, he died back in that village.
It’s a good thing Chris is there to save Leon from his own personal hell.
