Jayce holds his hands up in defence, “Don’t worry, there’s no one around to hear us,” he sighs, “Look i’m sorry, I just, i've read so much about the Jedi, and if you are one, then I know you aren’t going to fire that.”
The blaster clicks and Jayce tenses but nothing happens and he makes the guess that the man has turned his blaster to stun.
“I’m not a Jedi.”
“But you-“
The man pushes him harder against the wall, “I'm not. No one is, the Jedi are extinct.”

Jayce is a Mandalorian who is drawn to investigate Kyber crystals. His work leads him to Viktor, a Jedi in hiding who is searching for Kyber crystals to teach his padawans and help aid his hidden sanctuary. They become unlikely allies. Together they help each other escape trouble and create a safe place to exist, free from the clutches of the Empire, all the while feeling unexplainably drawn to the each other.
The Force has a mysterious way of working.

Viktor focuses back on him, blinking in surprise. “Yes,” he says. “I am a scientist. I research skeletal disease. Why do you ask?”
“I’m hoping to go into science,” Jayce explains, and Viktor’s belly burns as he watches a faint blush spread from his cheeks to his ears and down his neck. “I was just wondering, you know—how you got started, a-and what you studied, and if—if you like it?”
If Viktor were a different person, with better self restraint and less interest in pretty teenage boys, he’d say something else, but what comes out is, “Been thinking about me, have you?”

Summary
He runs his fingernail through the frosted fractals, accumulating the cold under the crescent of nail he’s managed to grow since the last time Viktor cut them. There’s ice there too, the silence between them another tiny death. It’s not Viktor's fault that he can’t speak, that the mask that splits his face prevents it, or that Jayce is so terrified of the sound of Viktor’s projected voice in his head that the other man no longer tries to communicate.
Jayce and Viktor no longer resemble the people they once were, but that doesn't stop Viktor for finding ways to care for Jayce, even when he isn't certain that's what he wants.

Viktor’s head presses to the wall behind them. A fleeting look of helplessness crosses over his eyes, as he considers Jayce’s words with a quirked mouth.
“I know. I know, Jayce, I… I just hate all of this beurocracy. Begging for funding. But making you do it alone would be so unfair. I need to be here. I just wish I wasn't so in my head about it.”
Viktor glances at him, a look so fleeting that premarital Jayce would have likely missed it. Beyond the haze of stress and purple exhaustion beneath his eyes, what almost manifests as a silent plea that Jayce is now so keen on.
Jayce lowers his voice further. “You want me to put you out of your head?”

Summary
As a wildlife biologist, it was Jayce’s duty to learn everything he could about nagas, now that he finally had proof they existed (just like he’d always believed). Jayce disclosed to Viktor early in their partnership that he wasn't the beta he was pretending to be. Given the stigma around male omegas, Jayce hides his secondary gender, for fear of being tainted as "a mutation". Viktor, no stranger to being looked at like he was made 'wrong', takes it upon himself to free Jayce from his societal norms, and even liberate him into embracing his omega-ness.
Naturally, he does this by way of replacing Jayce's heat suppressants with fertility drugs. How will these react to a body not made for child bearing? Well, that's the joy of experimentation.
