She knew that Ruby was doing everything that she possibly could to assure Yang that she had no intention of leaving in any definition of the word any time soon. But intention doesn’t completely stop the fear. Doesn’t wipe away the memories of her sister poisoning herself when Yang could only watch.
Doesn’t shake away the period of time where Yang truly thought her baby sister, who she loved more than anything in the world, had gone where she could not follow.

Phantoms were good trackers, Gem knew that, and she closed her eyes as the sound got closer and closer to her closet. As the ghost drew closer, it dawned on Gem that this didn't feel like a hunt. Hunts were distinctive when she paid attention; all of the hair on her arms raised and no matter where she was, she felt as if something was watching her, prickling unease shuddering down her spine. In this closet, she was terrified, but she didn't feel threatened in that usual distinctive way.
Belatedly, she realized that in her kitchen, the ghost hadn't been blinking. She had no idea what that meant.
Regardless of this revelation, when the door of her closet opened, she shrieked.
"Oh, there you are!" the ghost greeted, too cheerful for the howl that Gem let out. "I was wondering where you got off to in such a hurry. You didn't even let me say thanks!"
"Get out of my house, get out of my house, get out of my house!”
