Summary
It doesn’t happen all at once. Just a comment in the press pen. A hand on a shoulder. A silence that means something. Max keeps showing up. George keeps pretending not to notice. And somewhere along the way, it turns into something neither can ignore.

Summary
"It's probably because of Russtappen," Kimi said with a grin.
George frowned. "What?"
The PR manager looked uncomfortable. "Kimi is referring to a ship," she said awkwardly. "A significant portion of fans online are… enthusiastic about the tension between you and Verstappen. They interpret it romantically."
George felt his brain stall, like an engine cutting out mid-corner. "I'm sorry, what?"
[After stumbling across Russtappen fan videos, George begins to wonder if Max might actually have a thing for him. He could use that. He could make Verstappen pay. But the lines between manipulation, obsession, and desire blur faster than he anticipates.]

Summary
George's bright smile vanishes, replaced by a frosty facade of politeness.
"Well. I guess I'll see you on the top step Sunday, then?"
His tone still rings sharp with sarcasm. It fills Max with absurd glee.
"Will you be rooting for me in the stands?"
George huffs and pulls a VIP paddock pass from his coat pocket, the lanyard tangled between his long fingers.
"Definitely not."or—
Max doesn't intend to spend his weekend riling up Lewis's model friend—it just sort of happens. That's how it all begins.

Summary
“It would help if you had someone to talk to as well, you know? It helped me,” George says kindly, tentatively putting his hand on Max’s arm, and the smaller man looks at it like it’s something foreign - like he has forgotten how it feels to be touched. Before George can pull him into the hug they both desperately need, Max shrugs his hand away and takes another step back.
“I don't want to,” he whispered. He sounds so physically wounded that George thinks he’s going to choke on the lump in his throat.
His lip twitches with so many things he could say. “This is going to be the end of us, Max.”
