Melli was never a popular guy. He would speak high and mighty of himself, and would act as though superior to everyone he spoke to, but it was everything but truth. People weren't fond of him, and he'd come to accept that, instead deciding to take pride in his carefree, posh demeanor. No one cared enough to stop it, and he liked that.
Except for Ingo.
Because Ingo was an even stranger man than he. And for some odd reason, he took a bizarre interest in being as freakishly kind to Melli as possible, making the Diamond Warden flustered with each of his actions. To the point that eventually, he'd realized that he'd grown eyes for the man.

“Hello, Clan Leader Adaman,” he greets with more cheer than he should be able to conjure in such a state (Adaman tamps down the part of him that coos over how endearing it is). Volo dabs at his forehead with the kerchief a couple times before withdrawing it. “Have you been out adventuring again?”
Before he can even speak, Adaman watches Volo wipe a stray trickle of blood from his cheek. His thumb comes down to clean a drop from his bottom lip and yeah, holy fuck, Adaman would tap that. He’s pretty sure he’ll start drooling if he keeps his eyes on the blood still clinging to the merchant’s chin any longer.

Adaman is.. utterly exhausted now. He knows that he still needs to rest on his own but there’s something about Volo in his bed that’s doing something to Adaman’s heart.
He’ll admit with his full chest, the guy is handsome, and Adaman probably thinks of him much higher than he should. But that doesn’t change the fact that Volo is likely going to be angry when he wakes up, and Adaman is not prepared to deal with his wrath. So, he lies down on the other bed in his yurt, usually saved for Irida when she visits, and breathes. Slow, steady, trying to calm himself down and drift off.

And why did he want to go back in time, he heard you ask? Well, during their morning briefing he had seen Cyllene, ever-stoic, stern-faced Cyllene smile slightly and subtly wink at Professor Laventon.
When he'd looked up at the Professor he was as cheery as ever, face betraying no fact that their mean old leader had just winked at him. Yeah, so he wished he could go back till before he'd seen that.
