Warren was desperate. Sure, the little three-and-three-quarters inch tall man had some close calls in the past; exterminators, rats, that one teen who'd been too curious for his own good, but nothing that even remotely began to prepare him for this.
Honestly, Warren was doubting that anything could have prepared him for the end of the world.
Enormous creatures that the humans had called demons roamed outside, killing each other as well as anything they could see. Buildings had been completely destroyed in the invasion. Not a single human had been seen in months. Food was scarce to nonexistent.
Everything changed when he was caught by a human called the Slayer.

Danger was practically pouring off the man in waves. He was fully clad in shimmering purple armor and his hand rested on the handle of his sword, as if he was ready to draw it at any second. He was a head taller than the villager who captured him, and stood in a firm, confident battle stance. Ranboo had seen borrowers like him, before he'd left. Those borrowers were the ones who fought off the rats and the racoons. They were the ones who survived encounters with something like a cat or a dog.
Ranboo was terrified of the human equivalent of those fierce warriors.

A chilling breeze jerks him out of his thoughts, reminding him why he’s considering risking everything. It's been getting colder and colder in the apartment he lives in, and more than once has he been barely able to move with how much he had been shivering. The poor excuse for a blanket he had simply wasn’t cutting it anymore, not with this weather. If he continued the way he was going now, he might not survive the winter.
Which… brings him to now.
Ranboo stares down once more at the human sleeping in their bed, their long pink hair all over the place. They look comfortable, like the freezing temperatures simply weren’t bothering them. Though, to be fair, they did have a ton of blankets layered over them, all thick and fluffy.

Or: A borrower Ranboo is cold, so he decides to take a risk. That risk being, sleeping next to the living heat generator that is this human.
