Summary
Five minutes after Quentin gets back from Brakebills South, he discovers that Alice is not, in fact, his girlfriend. To compound his misery, Eliot is now acting irritatingly smitten with an obnoxious new boyfriend who won't shut the fuck up about Gary Johnson. Margo wants Quentin to help her break them up so she won't keep having to overhear one-sided conversations about Atlas Shrugged at Cottage parties. Quentin, true to his philosophy major roots, can't stop obsessing over the ethics of it all and questioning his own motives for wanting to interfere with his friend's relationship.
