    Sokka is born a firebender. When he's 10 years old, the Southern Raiders take him and his mother to the Fire Nation, viewing his bending as a blessing from Agni. From then on, he grows up with Zuko and Azula as a Fire Nation noble. Though his best friend is blinded (figuratively and literally) by his faith in his father and nation, Sokka sees the truth: the royal court is a game of strategy, and he'll play it for as long as it takes. Once Zuko is banished from the Fire Nation and fails to capture the Avatar, Sokka and Azula set off on their mission to destroy Ozai by playing right into his hands.

    There were many theories about his identity (some more ridiculous than others) but the fact was, none of the SI workers actually knew which one was true. And that’s why they all settled on calling him The Kid.

    It’s not like he was really secretive or didn’t talk to anybody. It was quite the opposite actually. He was very talkative and his mouth seemed to never shut up. But he just rarely was in one place long enough to have a longer, meaningful conversation about his identity with anybody. Or he talked so much that nobody had an occasion to ask him any questions.

    So he stayed a secret to everyone working in the tower. Until, one day, to everyone’s surprise, he came to SI with a field trip from Midtown High.
