The melody caught his attention again, not because it had changed, but because it was exactly the same as it had been when it first grabbed him. He thought about how odd it would be for a radio to be playing the same song on repeat before thinking how odd it would be for a radio to be playing in the school on an empty Sunday at all. Curious, he listened more carefully. The single voice carrying the melody was actually closer than he had first thought, and he realized he only thought the sound was so far away because he couldn’t remember ever hearing his husband so quiet.
