Eric said nothing. Kyle finally took his face out of his hand, finally turned around partways to look him in the eye.
Eric stood there, the snow melting on his clothes, his face bitten red with the Colorado cold, heightening the flushed, prickly look of years of acne scars, and Kyle’s chest ached. Unendurable, Eric Cartman.

“I’m not afraid of you, Eric.”
That got his attention, eyes rising, on Kyle’s eyes, searching, surprised.
“No?”
“No,” Kyle shook his head. Eric was silent a moment, just staring. Then he shook his head, subtly.
“Why?" He said, dry, "Because you know I’d never hurt you?”
Kyle couldn’t fight back a smile, which made Eric look more confused.
“Because I love you,” Kyle shrugged, “I don’t know.”
“We’re in the hospital, right now, because I tried to put your face through our bedroom window.”
“I know that.”
“I could have killed you.”
“I know,” he shook his head, still smiling, “I’m not afraid of you. You’re mine.”
He didn’t even know what that meant, exactly, it was such an abstract thought–not mine like a toy or an object. Mine like a responsibility, mine like a promise, mine like a fealty. Mine like the love itself. Mine as in you and me are not capable of separation, being afraid of you would be like being afraid of my own arms, my own mouth, my own eyes. I’m not afraid of you. You’re mine.
Eric looked like Kyle had just placed the keys to the kingdom in his hands and kissed his knuckles and promised him better. Kyle smiled at him, feeling tears in his eyes.

Weeks later, Kyle starts experiencing strange symptoms. He's tired, nauseous, emotionally erratic. When the truth comes out, it's worse than he imagined. He's seventeen, he hooked up with his arch nemesis, and now, he's somehow pregnant with his spawn.

Kyle started laughing for real then, full-body, helpless. The kind of laugh that made his ribs ache, and his nose scrunch, and his eyes go shiny for a completely different reason.
Cartman stared at him, and it hit him right in the chest.
God, he was so gone.
Kyle’s curls bounced as he laughed. His cheeks were still blotchy from crying earlier, his eyes a little puffy, his freckles bright. He looked tired and swollen and in a borrowed hoodie that didn’t quite sit right over his bump.
Cartman thought he’d never looked more unfairly, stupidly, painfully beautiful.
