“He frowned, humming in quiet disapproval as he tugged at and adjusted his suit. Not that it needed to be adjusted, of course– he had shelled out all the gold necessary to ensure it was tailored to him perfectly. He had an image to uphold, after all. But something about it was off, the image of him in the same suit he always wore suddenly not quite right. The dissonance clawed at his mind like a cat trapped in a box.
Just one of those days.
Those Days– which he had dubbed them whenever he forgot that he wasn’t supposed to be thinking about it– had been cropping up more frequently since they had escaped the feywild. You had more time to think about things you rather wouldn’t when a hundred-thousand gold piece debt to the most dangerous man in Agwè wasn’t hanging over your head, he supposed as he wiped off his drawn-on mustache. It had been smudged at some point during the day. Probably Gideon’s fault.”
Or: You can’t make an omelet without cracking a few eggs, and Kremy makes one hell of an omelet.

Summary
Gideon thinks he’s going west to find his Pa’s grave, pay his respects, and get some closure. He’s expecting nothing more than an old headstone in the dust and maybe some old memories to bury once and for all. Instead of a grave, he’s going to find something stranger: a living, breathing, and opinionated father who thought him dead. Whoops.
Kremy, expecting a quiet trip before his wedding and maybe a few spots of sightseeing, is now stuck on a dusty ranch with no idea how to survive farm life. The heat, the dirt, the endless cows—it’s not exactly his scene. And, of course, the locals are not thrilled about a gatorfolk hanging around. Despite his gentlemanly ways, he’s definitely not winning anyone over.
But hey, they’ve got each other, right? Here’s hoping Kremy doesn’t get stuck in a hayloft anytime soon. Trouble finds it's way.
