His current predicament is Jasper’s fault, though rather than fault it’s just common sense in this case. He’d said something about keeping distance from each other once classes started again, and Guy had looked just like a puppy who’s been told off for chewing at the drywall. Jasper had reasoned they couldn’t be caught making eyes at each other, Guy had pouted and called him paranoid, said something about ‘never would’ve said anything otherwise’ Jasper didn’t quite catch. He’d left Jasper’s apartment after slamming the door in his face.
A fight, he supposes. Jasper doesn’t like it.

“Theo, did you just— burn yourself?”
Theo lifts his head slowly, giving a very unconvincing: “No.”
Jenna laughs slightly, more to herself than Theo, “I have never once seen you burn yourself. I mean— you’ve cooked more gourmet meals in this kitchen than me and David combined.”
Theo watches as the gears in Jenna’s brain start actually turning. Her simple constant smell of soup and petunias goes sour. Her shoulders drop slightly and her face falls loose, too devoid of emotion for Theo’s liking.
“You did it on purpose.”

“Now I know you can put on a better show than that, Guy,” Jasper drawls out, breaking the silence. He clicks his tongue. “You’re letting the lady do all the work here.”
“I don’t need your commentary, okay?” Guy huffs.
“Ah, ah. This—” Doris pauses, thinking of Jasper’s annoying American expressions. “—is my way or the highway. Yeah?”
“Yes, ma’am,” Jasper says, snorting out a laugh. “You’re really letting her yank you around by the leash, huh, kid?”
Guy’s brow furrows and he opens his mouth to respond, but Doris beats him to it. “Jealous are we?”
