“Uh, second of all,” Jo continues, “how would we pretend… to be… boyfriends? I told you, I’m bad at lying.”
“Well, I’m good at lying, so I’d do most of it,” Yuma says. “Maybe I’d tell people that one day, I saw your contact and hit you up out of the blue, because I always thought that you were attractive back in university. And then we went on a couple of dates, and I ended up really falling for you, and you returned my feelings. All you would have to do is look at me like you like me.”
Jo frowns.
“Yeah, that might be too hard for you,” Yuma concedes.
[Yuma needs a fake boyfriend. Jo is a terrible actor.]

“I think the kids might be a little… you know… scared of him.”
Fuma raised an eyebrow. “Which ones?”
Euijoo froze. “...I’m sorry?”
“Which kids do you think are scared of Nicholas? Did any of them mention something to you?”
“It’s not that they mentioned anything per se.”
“Are any of them acting differently around him?”
“Well… no.”
Fuma blinked a few times, waiting for Euijoo to elaborate or offer up some sort of actual explanation then. He didn’t – just stood there with his arms crossed too tightly across his chest to be casual, one of his hike-worn sneakers thumping an offbeat rhythm against the wooden floor.
Fuma’s eyebrows pulled together slowly. “Then I don’t follow.”
“Fine, it’s me, okay? He scares me.”

“What?” Nicholas looks at him as if he’s just said the most shocking thing in the world.
Euijoo gulps and adjusts his glasses. “Please, don’t make it weird.”
“I’m not making it weird, I just wanna make sure I heard you right.” Nicholas straightens his posture from his previous arm-thrown-over-the-desk position and stares into Euijoo’s shy eyes. “You have a crush and want my help to look more attractive?”
