Summary
Vigilantism, while heroic, can have its downsides. Dick took a risk when he became Robin, and now as Nightwing, he continues to face that risk every day.
Dick visits Gotham just in time for a series of suspicious deaths. Scarecrow’s the top suspect, but without information on how his new-and-improved fear toxin spreads, it appears that anyone can suddenly be exposed to it.
Anyone, including heroes, of course.

Bitter and tart, sugar and saccharine. Dick performs to a crowd of no one. Kneeling on cold tiles, waiting for a ticket to be sold.
Searching for comfort in a sea of sludge, Dick walks the wire. One foot in front of the other. Oohs and ahhs chant, an invisible crowd goes wild.
Maybe a spectator will come soon.
For now, he performs alone.

A dark year rolls into hope. Crying bats and worried birds always manage to find solutions in the end.

Summary
It’s a slow process that tears Dick apart.
Time becomes irrelevant when days begin to blend into each other. The lapses in his memory don’t seem concerning until he finds himself completing tasks he doesn’t remember starting.
The family fails to notice his radio silence as anything unusual until it becomes, quite possibly, too late.
