As I told my best friend, [Like when I first read, please imagine my reaction as “screeching and depressed” before passing that line, giggling, pausing because I had to consider whether that was even possible, then crying again just ignoring I read that]
Fic’s brilliant in a “it hurts” way, down to the Draco’s in-character spoilt nature. I mean, I see a character arc incoming for him in this universe, but that arc’s probably ending with giving away some of his resources before aiming a gun toward his brain
But the last dialogue from the news person had me imagining the less-than-dogshit-beneath-my-shoe unloved bastard carrying liters of… substance… just to inject Harry’s corpse with because no inflation kink fic I’ve read had prepared me for that

Draco’s voice was soft, reflective, as he stepped closer, his hands clasped behind his back.
Harry turned to face him, the light from the lilies casting an ethereal glow upon his features.
“That the lilies reflect the soul of the one who visits,” Draco murmured. Another step forward.
Then, reaching out, he intertwined their fingers—slowly, deliberately.
“And look at them now, blooming so pure, so untouched. Innocent. Beautiful.” His voice dropped to a whisper. “Just like you, Harry.”]
[Draco pressed his forehead to Harry’s, his tears falling, mixing with the blood and the filth Voldermort and Death Eaters left for Harry.
“I came at three,” he whispered, voice shaking. “I came to take you to the garden.”
Harry’s body twitched.
The garden.
The lilies.
The place where he was still him.
Where Draco would kiss him, hold him, laugh softly against his skin and tell him reckless, impossible dreams about their future.
A future that no longer existed.]
[Draco choked, his hands clenching around Harry’s fragile frame. A sob wrenched its way from his throat, and then another, and another, until he was shaking so hard that he could barely hold Harry upright. He kissed his forehead, his temple, his lips, every bruise, every wound, as if he could take it all back.
As if he could undo it.
As if he could make Harry his again.
Would the lilies still bloom for Harry now?
Or would they wilt, mourning what had been taken?

Him laughing at Tom, knowing full well he’ll bring Tom down with him. Just imagining Harry’s pain, the emotions he must’ve been feeling
Ugh, fuck the ability to empathize a million times over. It’s hard to breathe imagining how Harry felt looking at the man he gave his heart to and realizing he wasn’t leaving alive. That Tom wasn’t just going to break up with him and let him go. That their love for each other wouldn’t protect him from Tom’s wrath but strengthen it
The foreboding knowledge that leaving Tom a message would simultaneously be the best and worst thing he’s ever done, and he hadn’t even done it on purpose
