Seth scrambles. People usually get bored of his stories, claiming they're all a little too similar to each other. “Have you ever been to the noodle stand in Lumina Square?” he asks, looking across at General Chop. He’s still pouring soup into their bowls.
“Yeah? That one’s pretty good too.”
“Haven’t you ever wondered why they’re so similar? I asked, but they told me they're not related.”
Jane shrugs, peering into her soup like it’s a scrying pool that will reveal the truth that was hidden to them. He had expected her to try something different, but there is something comforting about a simple bowl of noodles no matter the weather. “Not really,” she says, breaking up her reflection with a twist of the wrist. “Appearances can be deceiving. Maybe you’re the only one that sees it.”
