What is a monster?
Avid didn't know who he was. They tell him he believed in vampires, would shout it from the rooftops when he could, but he doesn't remember that. He can't remember anything, and this person they're describing, he isn't sure he likes it. Still, with chronic pain from a wound in his neck and the growing threat of vampires - who are apparently real, by the way - he'll need to figure out where he stands, so that maybe, hopefully, he can make it out of this alive.

Summary
In the five years since the defeat of Zhan Tiri, the Kingdom of Corona has known nothing but peace. That is, until the day that Quirin is found murdered in his and Varian's home. Upon this discovery, Catalina is arrested and prosecuted for the crime, before being broken out by Varian himself. Joined by Keira, the three are now on the run, in a desperate search to clear Catalina's name, and uncover the conspiracy that killed Quirin. Along the way, Varian and Catalina will both be forced to face their pasts and futures as monsters, and what that means for the kingdom of Corona.
This is basically an idea that popped into my head, after discovering Varian/Catalina and realizing I actually really liked the ship. I hope I did this pretty niche pairing proud, and I hope you all enjoy!

“No one made it out of Oakhurst alive.”
“But I thought you said that you guys were there when-“
Abolish rolled up the end of his glove to reveal two puncture wounds on his wrist, the skin raised where the scar tissue had healed around it.
“Oh,” Elle shuddered and leaned back heavily in her chair, “Right.”
It doesn’t really seem fair to let your friend die just so you can avoid the paperwork, so, in the wake of Martyn and Ren’s death, Abolish begrudgingly accepts vampirism. He wasn’t too fussed either way, if he was being totally honest, and if there was a chance to let the doc live, then he’s fine to pay the price.
It’s been a year, and Abolish and Legs have been working side-by-side- sire and fledgeling- in Abolish’s organisation, and they’ve mostly managed to put Oakhurst behind them.
But then someone knocks on the door of the organisation, asking for their help. They’re looking for their friend, who had gone missing somewhere near the town they’d been trying so desperately to forget about.

Marmalade didn’t watch the news and rarely got involved in the politics of things. Avid III was undoubtedly a political figure and, it seemed to her, an annoying one at that.
She arrived at the campus and Avid was waiting at the door to a building, arms crossed, foot tapping against the ground. “You’re late,” he said accusingly.
“You—you said six AM. It’s six AM,” Marm replied uneasily.
“It’s a minute after six,” Avid corrected bossily, tilting his head. He looked completely awake despite the fact the sky was still dark gray. “And I like my employees to be a few minutes early, anyway.”
A flash of annoyance shot through her. “I’m here on time. You’re the one making us late.”
