Arada coughed wetly, a weak burble of blood leaving the chewed-open hole. The sight of it made my performance reliability drop so sharply that I was concerned I'd go into an involuntary shutdown, and then we'd be well and truly fucked. All I could do was try to keep her warm.

“There is no need to worry, Dr Mensah,” Perihelion replied, “SecUnit has gone into an involuntary stasis sequence.” Its voice was calm and reassuring, though there was some other emotion underneath that Mensah couldn’t quite identify.

Summary
Caves are best avoided at all costs. They’re full of hazards, from falls to floods and suffocating small spaces—and this cave also had alien remnants in it, on top of all that. But here I was, stuck inside it with three of my humans and Three, and all we could do was try and find a way out while keeping everyone alive.
