Walking around half asleep, half unfeeling?A zombie that can still think, but is perpetually disconnected from everyone and everything?
His heart breaks, it isn't the first time, won't be the last. But the shards hurt nonetheless. The pieces detaching and falling apart to tumble down in his chest. He exhales with an audible huff, chest caving in. He leans forward imperceptibly, his forehead coming very close to drop and fall on Jinx's shoulder."

so bittersweet. And this scene at the end, of them curling together... I know it's coming and yet everything, the delicious pain of it, how beautiful it is, how tender. It hits me everytime, the words, the semtence structure, really support what is describe. We see, we feel it.
And how ephemeral it is, this moment. The monster comes back, irremediably. But she lives for this little moment of him (And I will suppose him for her).
It's one of my favorite OS. So angsty, so painful, so bittersweet in a way that really hits and really really hits you with the feelings of bitter sweetness. It's really well crafted, really well done.
My poor babies, I wish them a moment, even just a moment, longer together, one day. -

Lan Fan’s life has centered around what she is willing to do for a long time, longer than she can remember; it is the legacy of her family, of her grandfather and great-grandmother and great-great-grandfather, guarding the Yao princes and princesses. (She will be the first to guard an emperor.)
She must be willing to sacrifice everything, anything. Her life, or more than that.

Summary
Ling thinks about how even automail arms have space between the fingers, and yes, rationally it makes sense from a practical point of view. It's to grab things more dexterously. But. Humans could have evolved in such a way that five separate digits were never a necessary thing, like dogs that have no opposite thumbs and hunt just fine with their teeth or ducks that have their digits joined to swim faster. Human fingers, though, have more uses than swimming, humans are born with fingers that can hold knives and swords, yes, but also with fingers that can play musical instruments and hold another set of fingers within them. Ling has never been more than human but he doesn't think he has ever felt more human than right now.
