As Rei takes care of the dirty dishes, Kazuki throws on his work uniform and takes his leave. As per usual, he gives Miri a loud, smacking kiss on her cheek before he rushes out the door. “Be good for Rei-papa and Anna-sensei!”
“Okay, bye-bye!” she calls back, waving before the door shuts.
Rei sets the dishes in the rack to dry and wipes his hands on a well-worn dish cloth. “Do you want to pick out your clothes for today?” he asks.
But Miri is still facing the door, tapping on her bottom lip contemplatively. She doesn’t seem to have registered his question. “Rei-papa?”
“Hm?”
“Why doesn’t Kazuki-papa kiss you too?”
