Summary
"Angry?" Valarr echoed, incredulous. He squeezed her bloody hands tight. "Lady Arryn, you are a Maester in all but the chain. You just saved his life when I could do nothing but watch him die."
He pulled her to her feet. She was shaking now, the adrenaline crash hitting her hard. Valarr wrapped his arms around her, pulling her gore-soaked body against his chest, heedless of the mess.
"You are not just beautiful," he whispered into her hair, fierce and low, so only she could hear. "You are brilliant. And you are terrifying. And I have never been more proud to be yours."
(In which Valarr is betrothed to an Arryn girl who has a few scalpels and herbs up her sleeve.)

Summary
The Phoenix of Jerusalem is a sweeping trilogy that brings to life Baldwin IV—the Leper King of Jerusalem—and Ysolde bat Nura, the woman who became his physician, confidante, and secret wife.
From his childhood, Baldwin was marked by grief: the separation of his parents, the discovery of his leprosy, the death of his father, and the loss of Ysolde, taken from Jerusalem in his youth. Years later she returned under another name, a physician of rare skill whose reputation reached across the crusader states and the East. By his side, she became both healer and anchor.
The series follows Baldwin’s rise under Raymond of Tripoli’s regency, his astonishing victory at Montgisard, and the blaze of will that defined his reign. Yet as disease hollowed him, family betrayed him, and Saladin’s empire rose, Baldwin and Ysolde fought to preserve not only a kingdom, but their bond.
Epic in scope yet intimate at its heart, The Phoenix of Jerusalem tells a story of love, sacrifice, and resilience. Even as Baldwin’s fire consumed him, his legacy endured—in the fragile peace he secured, and in the embers of love that outlasted the fall of kings.
