Summary
When Sephiroth and his Remnants awaken in the past, before the First Class SOLDIERs started to degrade and during the Wutai War, Sephiroth decides to go about things a little differently. Using his knowledge of the future, he believes he can bring about the end of the world. His first step? Finding Cloud and securing him to his side. To do that, Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo are sent to befriend him and promise to help him get into SOLDIER. How hard can that possibility be!
Cloud Strife can't believe the newest Firsts actually want to be friends with him! It's almost too good to be true! Maybe a little too good. Cloud can't help, but wonder: why are they so interested in him? When everyone else in Shinra seems to only see a country bumpkin with no place here. What do they know about Cloud that even Cloud doesn't know?

Cloud’s fervour emulates the very picture of pink hyacinths that bloom beneath the tender touch of the Eastertide and he inhales a tortured breath through gritted teeth, holding onto the faint traces of gratification that flows into each of his muscles that have been pulled taut with burgeoning tension.
Sephiroth’s earnest praise sets his body alight. “You’re opening up beautifully. I’m so proud of you.”
Under his careful attention, Cloud writhes against the sheets.
Or: Sephiroth is Cloud's greatest temptation.

Summary

Those are some of the first words Ajax, starving college student extraordinaire, has the misfortune of hearing upon waking up in a brave new world from what he's fairly sure is a very fatal accident involving water and a shit ton of electricity.
Okay, so he's not dead. That's good. But what's this about him being stuck playing the character Tartaglia? Tartaglia, as in the no-good, one-dimensional, cartoonish villain who met his untimely, gruesome death in the first act of the original game?
