    Charlie crumples the note in his hand, his heart banging insistently in his chest, beating out a drumbeat of irritation. He’d found the note sticky-taped to his door that morning, an insult in infantile blue handwriting. He doesn’t know whether it’s worse looking at the neatly-written vitriol with a stabbed full stop at the end, or whether it’s worse when he flips the torn-off piece of notepaper over to see the looping words on the back, words he’s not even sure were written for him, or written first, or written second.  

     

    I’m very fucking tired.

     

    Charlie is getting pretty fucking tired, too.
