Summary
“Come on, you three,” says Connor’s voice, scratchy over the phone. “This Sally-Anne person’s not the end of the world. Maybe you’ll end up liking her!”
“If I hear that harp one more time, I’m killing myself,” says Roman.
A silence: it goes on so long Shiv thinks the phone’s disconnected. “Romey. Roman, you wouldn’t actually kill yourself, would—“
“Don’t be stupid, Connor, he—uh, he says that every fuckin’ day. ‘I’m killing myself’ is how Roman says hello,” deadpans Kendall. Roman and Shiv snicker; Connor took him seriously? Pathetic. This is why Dad thinks Connor’s weak.
“…Oh,” says Connor. “Okay.” Silence again. “Well…well, guys, speaking as someone who went through this when Dad met your mom, my advice is to just make the best of it.”

They aren't taking it seriously. It's a joke they throw at each other when they see tears in eyes or quivers on lips.
After everything they've been through, why subject themselves to it now?
"Because Dad is fucking dead," Kendall says.

Summary
When he was three years old, Kendall had nearly drowned. He can remember it in bits and pieces. It isn’t clear, but it’s a hell of a lot clearer than anything else at that age. He’d been in the pool at the summer house. Their nanny had been watching him, but she was also watching Roman, who couldn’t have been more than a month old. His head was under the water. He couldn’t surface long enough to call for help. The next thing he can remember was the nanny pleading with him, over the noise of Roman crying, not to tell his parents what had happened. He couldn’t remember her name, but he remembered the terror in her voice. He hadn’t told, but she’d been fired for some mistake or other soon enough. They never lasted long.
Sometimes Kendall thinks he must’ve drowned in that pool. The quiet ghost of a three year old, still wearing his little swim trunks and goggles underneath his tailored suit.

Summary
“Oh, fuck you,” Roman says, not maliciously. He looks down at the ground and buries the toe of his shoe in the sand. “I just… like, I missed you guys? Is that a crime?”
Shiv feels tears spring to her eyes, feels something heavy in her esophagus. She clears her throat, blinks back the hot tears brimming in her eyes.
“Mhm,” she says, “Yeah. Federal punishment.”
Kendall nods, solemn. “Death by firing squad.”

Summary
TW: Implied Suicide
"When the water clogs his lungs, he imagines he's running back in time, back, back, back, until he's ten years old and Shiv and Rome are pushing him on a swing until it spins dizzily, and he soars off, unbound, unharnessed. When he hits the grass, Connor is running towards him, arms outstretched."
Or; After Waystar is sold, Kendall can't go on living. This is the fallout.
