Summary
Joining the ADA was the best thing to happen to Atsushi Nakajima but the last three years have put the weretiger through the wringer. He loves the work he does, or at least the part where the city is saved and there’s momentary peace. But it’s become a thankless job that leaves him too tired for a proper dating life.
Maybe he’d be less jaded if he didn’t have to pick up the slack for omegas when they drop everything for heat-related paid time off. It may not be their fault, but why does being a beta have to mean more work?
And on top of that, his rival-turned-mission partner is an alpha who keeps him at a cold distance due to their social dynamic. Atsushi often wonders if it’ll always be this strained between them.

Summary
On quiet nights, cigarette smoke curls through a lonely alleyway, carrying a scent carefully crafted by Nakajima Atsushi, who has taken up the unusual hobby of making his own cigarettes. He experiments with blends for his own enjoyment, never expecting anyone else to care.
Akutagawa Ryunosuke, who has never smoked a day in his life, accidentally encounters Atsushi in that alley. What starts as a chance meeting turns into a weekly ritual. Though Akutagawa never smokes, he continues to return— learning new things from Atsushi, while Atsushi begins to see a different side of Akutagawa when he stated about his terminal lung illness.
Until one day, Akutagawa makes a final request: he asks Atsushi to make a cigarette just for him— his first, and his last.
(Or: Atsushi has a new hobby: making cigarettes. He smokes. He usually enjoys his new creations in an alley that serves as his hideout. Until one day, Akutagawa joins him. Their relationship eventually escalated to the point where Akutagawa entrusted Atsushi to make his first and last cigarette.)

“Wha–weretiger!” The clip of his low heels on concrete is a steady noise as he speedwalks to catch up with Atsushi. “We’re on a mission.”
The protest falls on deaf ears.
“Weretiger–”
“I think we’re perfectly capable of watching a high school student and ordering burgers at the same time. Or are you unable to multitask?” Atsushi interrupts, swatting away the tendril of Rashomon that’d manifested without Ryuunosuke’s conscious thought, actively attempting to wrap around Atsushi’s waist.

Akutagawa and Atsushi eat together, go to an arcade, and talk about their pasts–and it is absolutely not a date!
