    "Well, where else would I be, dear Cody?" Kenobi asks. Like it's a given. Like here, with them, is the only place he could ever possibly be.

    Between becoming the new head of the GAR and taking care of the brothers that decided to stay, Cody looks up to find he’s lost something along the way.

    Obi-Wan spends every waking moment putting out fires, hunting down the root of corruption in the heart of the Senate, and negotiating treaties with the formerly separatist planets. He spends his days as a peacekeeper, doing what he had always done before the War. So why does it feel like he’s missing part of himself?

    “You told me,” Ben says hoarsely, into the silence. “You told me once that you chose your name because you wanted to make your own kind of glory.”

    There are very few people who know that. Most of them are dead.

    “Glory,” Ben continues. “Kote. Cody. It is you, isn’t it?”

    “You know me,” Cody manages. “How do you know me?”

    Ben reaches up towards his own helmet, very slowly. Cody is helpless as he pulls it off, lets it rest in the space between them, and looks Cody dead in the eye for the first time in six years.

    “You said it yourself,” Obi-Wan Kenobi says. “You killed me.”

    Glory wants a job. Obi-Wan wants his nephew. Luke wants a bantha. Also, there's a crime syndicate and a love story worked out somewhere in the middle.

    “Great, you’re in,” the Jedi says. “Welcome to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, Mrs. Lars. Your quarters and uniform will be assigned to you shortly. Padawan Skeft will be here to escort you, please wait on the other side of this door.”
    Shmi stands and nearly tumbles over herself.
    “That’s it?” She asks, straightening her dress and bag.
    The Jedi sniffs.
    “That’s it,” they says. “You can—“
    “I thought it would be more difficult to persuade you,” Shmi says.
    “Ma’am,” the Jedi sighs, “We are an equal opportunity employer. Through the door, please.”

    (Shmi Skywalker is assaulted by too-real visions of her grandson in pain in the future. She gets a job at the Jedi Temple in order to prevent that from happening and soon after finds herself on a warship.)
