Beacon Hills had some serious issues. Danny was sick of the strangeness. All he wanted was a normal date, with a hot guy, and maybe some fantastic sex at the end of it. Not another weird, secretive relationship. Nobody disappearing, or getting mauled or killed; Just a normal, High School date.
In hindsight, Stiles was probably not the best choice for that.

Sometimes, his phone buzzes late at night. Sometimes, Hyunjin's laugh is the raft tossed out to sea solely for him, speaking things of weightlessness: "Hyung, tell me about your day. Channie hyung, I haven't seen you in a few hours, so let's talk."
As it usually goes, Chan is drawn to Hyunjin, so his body rises to the surface on those rare nights. It's nice, being able to breathe. Chan thinks it's even better to pretend the world ceases to exist when Hyunjin can allow him such a privilege.
Or: learning the difference between loving and taking.

Jeongin got his socks and shoes soaked by an unexpected wave as he tried to take a selfie. Hyunjin trailed behind collecting shells. Chan laughed until his stomach hurt at Jisung, who made the mistake of bringing a bag of chips with him and was screaming and running around in serpentine patterns to escape a hungry seagull.
But Felix was the only one next to him, knee deep in the cold sloshing sea, and in his eyes and his big grin was the same excitement Chan felt vibrating in his veins.
The beach. He loved the beach.
