Summary
This house is her father’s last act of revenge, it seems, for his last will and testament lays somewhere within these walls, collecting dust on a bookshelf or perhaps locked away within a drawer. It seems fitting that his final cruelty will be a walk down memory lane, every reminder of her childhood unearthed like a corpse from a tomb.

Of anything, anything in the world he could have asked, Maya never would’ve guessed that. Miles Edgeworth, with his fancy burgundy suit that was likely worth more than everything Maya owned combined… in her ratty clothes? Her Steel Samurai t-shirt with the tear in the left armpit? Her kimono that probably wouldn’t even cover his hips?
“It’s past Halloween,” was all Maya could come up with after a minute of dumbfounded silence.

A beautifully dressed doll, a face and hands of fine porcelain, glass eyes devoid of expression and life no matter how much you hug it and talk to it. Perhaps this is a more insulting description than the shark—at least a shark is alive, a shark can represent such a menace in the human imagination that beaches empty when they approach, but a doll? A doll is first and foremost an object, sometimes taken out of its box on the occasion of festivals like Hinamatsuri to be admired but too quickly put away again in the back of a cupboard.
[Une poupée joliment vêtue, un visage et des mains de fine porcelaine, des yeux de verre privés d’expression et de vie peu importe à quel point vous l’étreignez et lui parlez. Peut-être s’agit-il d’une description plus insultante que celle du requin – au moins un requin est vivant, un requin peut représenter une telle menace dans l’imaginaire humain que les plages se vident à leur approche, mais une poupée ? Perhaps, in another version of events, he would have been more useful to you. But despite the layers of justice and vengeance, of black coffee and sugar, Matsuda's contradictions will eventually string him along to his doom. Of this you are certain.

It could be his last time to ever go outside and stand beneath the sky. He thanked God, or whatever this power was, for giving him the chance to say goodbye.

Summary
The brownies were not very good. There was an odd pungent undertone to them that neither Light or Matsuda could identify — despite being total narcs, or perhaps because of this fact, they were not familiar with the signature taste of marijuana in edibles.
Matsuda made them coffee and breakfast, and they got to work, the brownies quickly forgotten. Because they were full from the stodgy brownies, they only ate a bit of yogurt for breakfast. This was a grave error.
While working on the Kira case, Light and Matsuda accidentally get very high. They do not cope well with this.
