Summary
Alone in the elevator, it all roars to life again. He told himself years ago that he wouldn’t be that guy anymore; he’d cleaned up his act and left it behind. Or so he thought, until he was down a couple drinks too many and kissing someone who isn’t Taylor just because it felt good. He hates himself for it. Taylor deserves better than that. Better than him.
Maybe he’s always been this way.
He thought he’d left this itch behind too. He hasn’t touched a blade since before Maddie left. Before Chimney followed her. He’d gotten clean and stayed that way, even as the scars started to fade—but it’s blooming again into something that’s getting harder and harder to ignore.

Summary
He finally starts to think back on Maddie's worried face when she told him about it, and he thinks that maybe Maddie knew before he did that he was sick.
Maybe she knew before he did that he'd get the urge to do something like this. Maybe she knew that he wouldn't know how to stop.
If Buck weren't so tired, he might have teared up a little when he imagined the worried look in his big sister's eyes.
(Or, Buck self-harms. He never does figure out how to stop.)
