Armand turns to look at him. He’s got that cute little frown line between his eyebrows, the one he gets when he’s so distracted trying to figure something out that he forgets to care about how his face looks.

Mike doesn’t say anything. He just watches Will, watches the way he shrugs it off, the way he laughs a little too loud, the way his ears go red.

It is the natural law of the world that each person has at least one soulmate. The amount of bonds tied to the soul can be easily determined with how many unique symbols there are in the soulmark everyone was born with.
Just as the sun always rises every morning and the stars twinkle every night, every pair—or group—of soulmates would always have a Dreamer. For even with the unique soulmarks that would hopefully allow soulmates to recognize each other, the vastness of the planet still makes it difficult for them to find one another.
Legends say that it was Gaia’s pity, for she could not bear the thought of soulmates never finding each other. Hence, blessing each bond with a Dreamer who would be able to unite their fated souls together. After awakening in their coming of age, a Dreamer would be able to connect everyone who shares their soul bond through a shared dreamscape. It was because of this blessing, many were able to find their fated ones during their lifetime.

Genesis, Angeal, Sephiroth, and Zack were considered lucky soulmates who have found each other way before shared dreams. But that luck backfires when they could only meet their last soulmate in a space beyond sleep and reality.

It was just his last living relative, after all… The last living relative that no one had told him about. The last living relative, who just so happened to be his father’s twin brother. The one who lives hours outside of civilization, in the middle of the woods, under feet of snow. A man whom Yuuji had never met. His Social Services manager hadn’t been able to find much information on him. Supposedly, when he’d called to inform them of the freshly signed over guardianship from Gramps, he’d simply told them that he worked from home.
At least, that’s all they told Yuuji.
