Severus had decided, long ago to keep leading his life just the way it was; inside Hogwarts, teaching all those ungrateful dunderheads for whom he risked his life on a daily basis. The fact that they might find him unpleasant in his ways never, ever crossed his mind. If it did, he told himself it was intentional.
Until she came.
Then everything began unravelling. Oh! How he hated that wretched witch, with her easy lopsided smile and mischievous eyes. What was Albus thinking, making her a teacher? She, who effortlessly became the student's favourite within two months.
All he had to do was stay away from her. Just like he did from everyone else. But no, she is powerful, intelligent, beautiful, exotic and curious. And she is a potions mistress. That is a concoction for disaster. Who considers a grouchy man who snaps at you a challenge? As if she could make him laugh out loud in the Great Hall!
Add the newly added potions and duelling competition between Hogwarts and Dumstrang, Severus just can't get a break.

Summary
MY PURPOSE , now complete, is to archive the epic series the Mellon Chronicles for readers to continue to enjoy. I do not claim authorship or ownership of any work in the Mellon Chronicles - that belongs to Cassia and Siobhan, and to Tolkien.
As readers may be aware, the original site at which the Chronicles were archived (aragorn-legolas.5u.com) has ceased to exist. I retrieved the all the stories from the online web archive Wayback Machine but I am unsure how much longer they will be available there either. So I am planning on re-posting them all here, in an effort to prevent them from disappearing from the internet altogether. There may be other sites where the works are also archived, but I could not find any from Googling.
In the series, you can find all of the stories in chronological order (that is to say, the order in which they appear in their entirety, not the order in which they were written).
If you appreciate being able to read the Mellon Chronicles here and, like me, do not want them to be lost, please comment and let me know. Thank you to everyone who has already done so, it makes me very happy to know that I'm not the only person who still remembers and enjoys these stories :)

Now Tony was the one offended; him, the weak link? How dare. “Excuse you. I’d be a devoted partner. Devoted. You wouldn’t know what hit you. You’d feel absolutely cherished.” Yes, Tony had a lot of faults, but lack of dedication to a partner, when he actually had a partner—which, admittedly, had been rare—was not one of them.
“Oh good,” Wong said, hanging up the phone and handing it back to Tony. “You two can be a wonderful, devoted couple for the next year.” He clapped his hands together with a sense of dooming finality. “Congratulations on the marriage.”
