She let herself collapse on the ground covered in dark streaked mud, tainted by the blood of the dead Reincarnators.

Shinobu Kocho was a rational, clever person.
Her intelligence would be her downfall because she found a solution to avenge her sister. A simple one. If she just made herself the poison and masked it until it reached a fatal point for the demon, he would die.
There were a lot of attempts. She tried repeated consumption of wisteria petals in a paste-like form, her system just rejected it. She injected it into herself, it eventually cleansed out. It was a rather risky practice, making herself her own lab rat. She loved the risk, even if she knew better than to impulsively get herself poisoned.
Kanao saw her do it once. She saw the whole thing. She saw her grit her teeth and the frustrated expression that followed. She saw her clench her fists as she pushed the last of the fluid in. Kanao was taken by surprise. Her eyes were slightly wide and expression hesitant. Her mouth opened to say something, but she couldn’t. No words came out. She looked scared, not a frequent look on her.
