Agott’s worried voice echoes from upstairs in the entry hall, carrying down the steps into the kitchen where Qifrey is working.
“I–I’m ok!” Coco hollers in reassurance, but Qifrey’s hands have already dropped the herbs they were binding without a second thought, leaving a scatter of tranquileaf sprigs strewn about the counter. The tone of Agott’s voice had sent a hot jolt of protective fear through his insides, his heart leaping to his throat, beating fast. He nearly trips over his skirt as he hustles up the stone steps into the living room.
.................................................Coco gets a nasty boo-boo, and Qifrey helps get her fixed up. Some big feelings come to the surface and they share an emotional moment.

A fond smile on his lips, “Iridescent clouds are like rainbows in clouds, a phenomenon that occurs when the sunlight bends around the edge of cloud droplets and as a result the different colours that compose of the white light, diffract by different amounts.”
Beldaruit looks at Qifrey with a bright grin, “It is truly beautiful, like a rainbow— or several colours beautifully wrapping around a cloud's edge.”
Or, Qifrey finds out Beldaruit likes cotton candy-like rainbow clouds and decides that's going to be his farewell gift after the Fourth Test.

Summary
Olruggio knew, long before it all came crashing down, that he’d made a terrible decision. That the consequences would catch up to him, and there’d be no avoiding a series of potentially world-ending conversations.
He just hadn’t expected it to happen quite so spectacularly.
The initial idea, prompted by a suggestion from an older noblewoman who’d commissioned him for something completely different, wasn’t bad at all. He’d been working on a set of singing stones, and the lady had made an offhanded comment about the potential of magic that could make an object resonate. She’d meant it as a joke, but where she saw humor, Olruggio saw potential—and told her as much.
And just like that, he’d had a commission. And a problem.

Qifrey’s formal robes were a piece of art in their own right. Bankrolled by Beldaruit as a final graduation gift, they were a pale smoke, nearly white, and from what Olruggio could remember the golden embroidery was a sight to see. It vined along the bottom hem and wrapped organically around his throat, and when Olly had seen them for the first time he hadn’t known what to say. Qifrey had stepped forward to speak to him and he’d simply stared until gently reminded that he was still, in fact, capable of speech.
(Truthfully, just an elaborate set piece to put both dads in formal robes for an evening.)
