Summary
“It’s not safe.” Phainon said, voice strained. Even now, he remembered how divine the Chrysos Heir’s blood had tasted that night, and everything in him just wanted another bite. He fought down the hunger within him with difficulty, resisting the urge to bite at his lip to quell the ache in his teeth.
“And why is that?” Mydei asked, his voice softer as he took a step forward.
“I- I’ll hurt you.” Phainon stammered, thoroughly backed into a corner with nowhere to go. He wanted to run, to get away, to return to the safety of solitude where a monster like him couldn’t hurt anyone.
“No, I don’t believe you will.” Mydei said softly.
Phainon has a nightmare, and spirals about the possibility of his corruption growing worse and causing him to lose control. Fearing the worst, he leaves the city. Now, it's up to Mydei to find him and pick up the pieces of the Deliverer's shattered soul.

“What happened to you…?” He barely registered the soft whisper, as hands came to gently cradle his face, fingers just barely avoiding the gaps in his shattered frame. “You look human, and yet…” There was a breath.
“Can you understand me?” The blur asked.
“Under… stand…” He echoed. What had he been doing? …He couldn’t remember. His head hurt. …his everything hurt. Such… agony.
… He wanted to rest.
Crumbling under the weight of the coreflames he should have passed on several cycles ago, Khaslana makes his way to an Okhema that doesn't yet know of the Flame Reaver. There, he finds comfort, concern, and... perhaps, a bit of hope.

“I told you a world tour would be a shitty idea,” he growled at Cerydra. “Especially in this kind of situation. Why didn’t you listen? Now our center is having a panic attack and he won’t be able to perform.”
'And I’m worried for him,' Mydei didn’t add. 'I don’t want him to carry all that pressure alone.'
Cerydra’s eyes were impassive as always, but her voice was a bit quieter. “Phainon can’t perform?”
“He can’t,” Mydei affirmed with a cold stare. “So are you going to do something about it? Or am I going to have to stain our group’s reputation by knocking someone out? Because I will.”

“What does dying feel like?”
Mydei stills. He could tell him of different sensations of death. He could tell him what it feels like when life ebbs out of your veins, and you can only watch it happen. He could tell him how the swift stab of a blade snuffs life out like a wayward candle. He could tell him that the River of Souls is a cold climb, with sweet voices whispering from beyond the shore, beckoning him to join them, relish in their touches yet again, after all the time that has passed.
Mydei gathers Phainon in his arms, burying his head in the Deliverer’s neck. Phainon is limp enough that it might be concerning, so Mydei just holds him tighter.
“You will find no comfort there.”
“No,” Phainon agrees, “such things are long beyond me.”

Mydei is the "King of the Front", the man who turned the deadliest sector of the war into his personal kingdom. Ever since his own father sent him to the swamps of Sector Zero to die a "heroic death". But Mydei survived out of spite and built a "Fortress" there.
Now, he despises politics, hates the "clean ones" from the capital, and believes only in caliber and concrete. He has become uncontrollable, and Headquarters decides to fix this.
The "solution" arrives at the base in the form of the elite Seventh Squadron, "The Sky Hounds", commanded by Major Phainon.
They start a war with each other on the very first day. But when the sky falls to the earth, leaving only burning wreckage in the grey zone, Mydei will have to step into the fire to prove: even if you are born to fly, sometimes you need someone to hold you on the ground.

The day Phainon lost his everything, he lost his very purpose of living. Saved by a young Superhero called The Crown Prince, he started a new life in Okhema, adopted by a weird family. It was hard, but he somehow managed to live pretty normally, thanks to everyone in the Astral Express family.
But the situation regarding Crown Prince concerned Phainon. He was...a good guy, the first person to reach out to Phainon back then. So why is the superhero being bashed and hated on? Crown Prince saved him, so now it's Phainon's turn to save Crown Prince. He'll become Phainon's new purpose.

They undressed each other slowly despite the urgency, taking time to appreciate what they'd revealed. Mydei's fingers traced the faded scars on Phainon's arms from past reactions, gentle and reverent. Phainon mapped the landscape of Mydei's body—the still-healing surgical scar on his shoulder, the various small marks from years of boxing.
"You're so beautiful," Mydei said, pressing Phainon back onto the bed.
"You're biased."
"Extremely. Doesn't make it less true."
