He just needed to keep them alive and train them too pass the Chunin exams a year and a half from now. Why did all his assignments suck? And why couldn't he stick to these simple orders.

Summary
In the spring of 1983, Steve Harrington starts seeing and hearing things he shouldn’t.
A nail-studded bat and flashing lights. Children’s high, bickering voices. Lapping blue water, chlorine, and guilt. Moments from a life he hasn’t lived crash into him without warning, vivid enough to leave him shaking.
Steve might be losing his mind, but he's certain of one thing: Barbara Holland is going to die. Before the year is out, someone – or something – is going to murder her. So he does the only logical thing – he attempts to befriend her. It's easier to save someone if you're standing next to them, right?
Setting out to save Barb is supposed to make things make sense.
Instead, it causes Steve to question everything he thought he knew. The visions keep coming. And the more Steve tries to fix things, the more uncertain the world around him becomes. Especially when it comes to Eddie Munson – someone Steve can’t quite explain. Someone who feels different than he should, heavier somehow, as if the future itself is pulling Steve toward him. A gravity Steve is certain wasn't there before.

It's never been so apparent that Minato is a boy made of contradictions. It's not dying that he fears but pain, yet he keeps his kunai sharp because he craves the bite of steel tearing at his flesh. Living from even one moment to the next is eating away at his mind, leaving the days to blur into one another, but he can't seem to end it.
He's a dog on a leash, a rabbit running from a predator, and a child being indoctrinated into a system of perpetual violence. Minato isn't sure whether he wants to be free or dead. He doesn't know which is which.
